Random Tuesday Thoughts

It's Tuesday, so its time for...

randomtuesday

Poor kitty! The worms are gone (to my knowledge), but now the poor thing's sneezing. Damn dogs at the vet! It could also be allergies, or she caught whatever's making me sneeze. (If you doubt she caught something from me, back when swine flu was everywhere, a cat caught it from its owners.)

Sunday night, I heard her throw up in one of her hiding spots, the patio door behind the tv. I had to walk outside to inspect the damage. Luckily it was on a rug used to keep air from escaping/coming in, easier to clean up than the carpet.

Monday, when my husband and I were planning on taking my car somewhere, it wouldn't start. He said it was the battery. We replaced the battery 2 years ago when I was working in a construction zone, we couldn't find the receipt, but since we got it from the Auto Zone down the street, they were able to look it up in their computer, find it, and since it was still under warranty, replace it NO CHARGE! Yay!

My husband survived last week. Tuesday-Friday, he spent the morning working on a house in the next town, then drove about 60 miles to another house to work on it in the afternoon. Friday, his nephew tagged along, he's 19 or 20, so he was a bigger help to him than the other nephews would've been. He was slow to my husband's standards, but he was able to finished both of them up with his help.

He's also on steroids again, some breathing doctor put him on this inhaler he's taken before, the follow-up appointment is about the time he should be going to WLC & that other class, so we'll see how all this goes.

Don't have Walgreens call you to tell you your prescription is ready. Wednesday I picked up my prescription from them, Thursday, Friday, and Monday, they called to inform me that its ready for pick-up. Did I also mention that Monday's call woke me up? Not everyone works during the day, or is awake at that time. That's the reason I transferred my prescription there, this particular one's open 24/7.

Popsicles shaped like guns, why haven't I seen these at gun shows???

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Seriously?! One in four?

The BBC has released a report that partially explains the frustration my husband and I have been feeling these last 2 years or so:

Frustration for the US soldiers who never went to war

It says only one in four actually deploy, seriously?! Then why are there so many going on multiple deployments? One of those other three can't go in their place? The military doesn't want to waste time re-training them? They sent my husband to the east coast in hopes he could walk on to a class that they a)sent him to the wrong place for and when he got to the right place b)the class was full, so he couldn't get in after all. The unit did let him stay on as another CBRN because he's also an expert saw gunner. Then he didn't get to go after all. There were people in this unit jumping out of windows, having doctors say their girlfriends/wives were having difficult pregnancies, everything they could think of to escape deployment, then my husband who VOLUNTEERED TO DEPLOY was kept behind because of some lazy-ass Army dentist didn't like the work another Army dentist did on my husband's teeth, so he was sent home to a civilian dentist to fix the problem?

I'm reminded of all of this several times a day, especially now since my husband's had surgery and we had to switch sides of the bed again (first time after my broken femur & surgery). Every time I walk into our bedroom over to my "new" side of the bed, I'm having to step on or over this deployment shit. He refuses to stick it in his storage unit, he claims security risk, but he won't try to find a more secure unit. He doesn't want to work hard enough to afford to pay rent on a two bedroom, and he won't get rid of anything! I want to move into a studio apartment by myself just to show him how little I own! Several times in the last year, I have asked, begged, and yelled at him to clean up his shit and he hasn't. That was the straw that broke the camal's back a week and a half ago, causing me to kick him out after spending the morning playing on his computer after he had said the night before that he would clean up his stuff and stick some of it in his storage unit.

Gun show

What a weekend! I worked a gun show I've never worked at before, different building, different people running it, different dealers, but for the most part, same rules. As with many other gun shows, you'll see many acu-looking uniforms being worn, mainly violating ar670-1 (Vx's favorite rule), other military themed items (Vx bought some acu sunglasses), and how could I forget the one person I had trouble w/Saturday, a Blue Star Mom. She gave me the titanium excuse, my response, "So do I, I still can't let you in." Dealers were only allowed to use my door if they had a note, she didn't. I hate to think those kind of hateful people are the very ones who send our husbands and other military personnel care packages. I reported her to another security guard, idk if he reported her to the show, but he did talk to the others at her table and they apologized for her. Folks, just because there is a door there doesn't mean that you can exit out of it, many are there simply to make fire marshalls happy, we did have flag rope tied in front of it, which may have discouraged some, but it was loose enough that you could escape out those doors incase of a fire, and people that were allowed to use the doors were still able to. At guns shows in particular, how people enter and exit has to be monitored closely, guns have to be checked both times, tied, they can't be loaded, and the ones purchased have to be marked to leave the building. A gun was stolen this weekend, but the person was caught at the door, arrested, and the gun was returned to the dealer. This show was one of the smaller ones, so there wasn't as many crazy people there, but still interesting. I'm glad the hours were short, 8 hrs Sat. and 6 Sun., I wasn't feeling good all weekend, so it helped.

I better call the boss in that other department if I want to work there, I'm not too crazy about doing that job, but it is the best option, and it is 2 months steady work.

One good thing about the short hours, I got home just in time to see the Kentucky Derby! What a good race! I know my mom was hoping the winner would win and my brother bet on that horse as well. It's jockey was the same one that rode last year's winner, so you know he has to be pleased. What a great race!
