MilSpouse Friday Fill-in

This week's questions are:

1. Since most of the country has had nasty weather, what has your weather been like this week?
The meteorologists in the area kept saying several inches to a few feet of snow, they've said this many times in the past when we only saw a few flakes, so it was somewhat taken seriously. Late Monday night/early Tuesday morning, it starts sleeting. Tuesday, it snowed on top of ice & sleet. The official count from the airport was 14 inches, while for some that may not seem huge, we usually get a few inches that melt away in a day or two. My mom was at work Monday night/Tuesday morning, her & her truck was stuck there, Vx & her bf couldn't get their vehicles out of the parking lot Tuesday morning, my car sits low to the ground, so it wasn't getting out either. She brought extra food w/her, she had planned on mopping the floor, the guardshack doesn't have running water, so the water she didn't use was in jugs from a building that she could drink. Finally she did get a ride to the street on the west edge of our apartment complex Wednesday morning. Her bf met her at the street & they made their way through the thick snow to our apartment. Wednesday, Vx was also able to clear the snow around my car well enough to drive it out & since the major streets & highways had their snow cleared off, he was able to drive around & gather a few extra supplies. Schools have been closed since Monday afternoon, the hockey team had to reschedule their game Wednesday (other team had bad weather in their area as well), & may have to do the same w/their weekend games in Mississippi. If you follow Pioneer Woman on twitter, you may have seen that she was stuck in New York because Tulsa airport was closed, a sports broadcaster was stuck in Tennessee for the same reason, while a public speaker in my area flew out Monday ahead of the storm for her speaking engagement she had in LA Thursday.

2. What is/are your best money saving tip(s)?
Coupons and shopping the sale ads mostly. When we know there are hockey games coming in the next day or two, we'll make marinara sauce in advance (taste better after sitting in the fridge overnight for some reason) then come home & cook noodles, or buy a pizza crust & toppings so we're not as tempted to eat out. We usually snack around before the game as well, since we're sometimes there for about 6 hours & we can usually smell the expensive concession food the whole time. When we do eat out, we usually go out to places where we get a good deal. A Qdoba in our area gives a military discount (not all of them do), if the hockey team scores 4 goals that night, we can get a free burger at Jack in the Box (we usually get to visit w/some fans when we're there as well, we also order other items as well [shakes, fries, dessert, etc.]), Sonic & other fast food places also have coupon inserts on occasion. You can also join email lists/text alerts for food places, clothing stores, etc. to receive discount codes as well. Not to get too twitter crazy, but she can also help you save money. She has helped me find coupons for things we actually like & use, & provide other tips to help out (I'll warn you, she does get into christian topics at times, but if that bothers you, you can skip over those parts).

3. What was your favorite vehicle you’ve ever owned??
Despite the color, my first car, 91 Subaru Legacy. It was "ugly brown" but it sat high enough to not hit things (like I've done in my current car & the one I wrecked), I never had to worry about leaving my head lights on (as soon as the car's turned off, so were the lights), and many other things. My current car & the one I wrecked have automatic lights, which is nice, but it did cause problems at my former job (shine at inappropriate times, in horse's eyes, etc.).

4. What is a question you’d like to see asked in a future fill-in? (Your question & blog just may appear one week!)
Sometimes I have trouble answering the questions, but I can usually come up with some kind of response, a question I want asked...
Why is the sky blue?
Which came first: the chicken or the egg?
Just how many peppers did Peter Piper pick?

5. Fill in the blank: You might be a MilSpouse if…....you spent about 2 years telling people, "my husband's deploying in a few months" when in fact he didn't.
...you use a military id, but the bank teller wants a "real" id (especially when you have a special military bank account).
...there's more challenge coins laying around your home than nickels, dimes, etc.
...your husband pulls out the pro mask anytime your sick.
...your tempted to dye your pet's hair green (or blue in the future to match the Class A's).
...you know to shine the Class A shoes w/Windex.

Wow! I really must have cabin fever, look at my LONG & colorful answers! Unfortunately, I think more snow's on the way, so I should probably try to escape today w/Vx just incase.

Have a good weekend!

Random Tuesday Thoughts

After forgetting a brief hiatus last week, guess what's back?

randomtuesday

I spent the weekend watching model airplanes that look like military planes fly. In other words, a bunch of grown men playing with toys. One had a plane set up so he could kill the engine and have it say, "Which way to Ireland?" from the movie The Spirit of Saint Louis. I saw why my husband was making a big deal about the name of his plane, most P-51's there were named Big Beautiful Doll. Saturday was windy when I was there, so he didn't fly the F-15 then (made of foam), but I saw it fly Sunday. I saw why he'd also like a rock crawler to haul the P-51 to the runway, there were bigger planes there being pushed and pulled by several people. I told him I would drive it, that way when he's flying, I can drive it off the runway.
Yesterday, I think the cat scratched me the worst she ever has. There's a scratch on my right arm by my wrist, bloody and puffy looking.

Also, I took my mom's bf to pick up his semi truck, you would think a place that repairs semi's, dump trucks and other large vehicles would have better parking then the tight space I had to squeeze into. At least their workers come out and help you back out of their driveway onto the street. I assume this was also the same truck mom had the dream of the three of us riding in.

He also had the joy of the cat waking him up, he didn't set my mom's alarm correctly, and his phone's ringer isn't working, so I opened the door slightly to talk to him and the cat came in. He is one of her boyfriends after all (Vx is the main one).

My sleep schedule is screwed up! I'm sleeping a few hours at night, a few during the day. Yikes! I just checked big event #1's website, I have 2 weeks to to get my sleep figured out. It says 16 days, but the boss usually starts me a day or two before. I still have no clue what I'll do this time, the job I did the last 2 years is gone, there's been cutbacks of how many people work and what hours they work, and since I haven't worked since June (when I did about 5 weeks of hours in 2, and then my husband's surgery), she may have "forgotten" about me (she does that sometimes). I also can't handle some jobs out there since I'm a smaller unarmed woman w/a bad leg.

I'm finally watching some more of my birthday present (Sex and the City Complete Series on DVD). Watching the show edited on tv is definitely not the same, some episodes weren't even shown on the station I watched them on, parts were removed for tv, either for time or content.

Part of me wants to watch The Outsiders, while part of me fears it would be too sad (this is why).

Vx met someone over the weekend that he fell in love with, a nuclear pharmacist who was visiting our area for her job. She's also into flying RC planes/helicoptors and Stargate. They found aspects of each others jobs really neat. Vx loves the fact that she gets to use this particular machine all the time and they compared radiation detectors (he has something like a watch for his, she had her rings and a pager with her).

Mom's bf got one of his vehicle windows knocked out. His insurance covered it, but it was a mess to clean up and a bit of a hassle to get it replaced. Nothing was stolen thankfully, he had a GPS and some other valuables in there.

Random Tuesday Thoughts

It's Tuesday, so its time for...

randomtuesday

Poor kitty! The worms are gone (to my knowledge), but now the poor thing's sneezing. Damn dogs at the vet! It could also be allergies, or she caught whatever's making me sneeze. (If you doubt she caught something from me, back when swine flu was everywhere, a cat caught it from its owners.)

Sunday night, I heard her throw up in one of her hiding spots, the patio door behind the tv. I had to walk outside to inspect the damage. Luckily it was on a rug used to keep air from escaping/coming in, easier to clean up than the carpet.

Monday, when my husband and I were planning on taking my car somewhere, it wouldn't start. He said it was the battery. We replaced the battery 2 years ago when I was working in a construction zone, we couldn't find the receipt, but since we got it from the Auto Zone down the street, they were able to look it up in their computer, find it, and since it was still under warranty, replace it NO CHARGE! Yay!

My husband survived last week. Tuesday-Friday, he spent the morning working on a house in the next town, then drove about 60 miles to another house to work on it in the afternoon. Friday, his nephew tagged along, he's 19 or 20, so he was a bigger help to him than the other nephews would've been. He was slow to my husband's standards, but he was able to finished both of them up with his help.

He's also on steroids again, some breathing doctor put him on this inhaler he's taken before, the follow-up appointment is about the time he should be going to WLC & that other class, so we'll see how all this goes.

Don't have Walgreens call you to tell you your prescription is ready. Wednesday I picked up my prescription from them, Thursday, Friday, and Monday, they called to inform me that its ready for pick-up. Did I also mention that Monday's call woke me up? Not everyone works during the day, or is awake at that time. That's the reason I transferred my prescription there, this particular one's open 24/7.

Popsicles shaped like guns, why haven't I seen these at gun shows???

Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

This week's Random Tuesday Thoughts is brought to you by...

Monday
Only the craziest of crazy days happen on a Monday

and

Tuesday
It can't be as bad as Monday

(See, my broadcasting education wasn't a complete waste of time!)

So, Friday night, my husband said he saw a worm on P's butt, then proceeded to do a Stevie Wonder impression. This caused him concern, so Saturday, I called the vet's office. Unfortunately, I called too late that day to get her in, but there was a Monday evening opening, so I took it.

Saturday, I cleaned up the carrier the best I could, took the top off, then placed the bottom half by her food/water dishes, with the water inside. Sunday, I replaced the top, but left the door off, refilled the water dish, & placed a milk ring inside (one of her favorite toys). Monday morning before I went to bed, I removed the water, replaced the door, propped it open w/the water dish and stuck some newspapers inside. Last vet visit, after the fecal float, she pooped in her carrier, luckily on newspapers so it was easier to clean up. Right before I tricked placed her in the carrier, she started eating food, worried she might get car sick, I placed the food dish out of her reach, and cleaned up the crumbs remaining.

Then she tried to hide.

My mom had found some catnip-flavored treats somewhere, so I shook the bag, threw one in the carrier, then when she walked in to get it, I closed the door, and we left. The whole car ride there, she cried, I almost cried, I drove through construction zones nervously, trying not to drive like I normally do (slamming on the brakes, so she wouldn't fly out of the back seat), and I almost missed the turn to the vet, but we made it. I told the receptionist, "The crybaby in the floor has an appointment w/Dr. Smith." She kinda chuckled, and asked how to pronounce P's name (it's a persian name) so I told her how, explained what it meant and where it came from. Common questions asked. The assistant said she was beautiful, and looked at her eyes. Both of hers are green, she said something about most having blue eyes, or one blue one green. Also said most with blue eyes are deaf. If you read the first sentence, then you know she's not. Then I told her the story of her name while she anal raped her collected a sample for the fecal float. Everything looked great, they gave her a pill there for her worms, vet suggested I use some different flea medicine on her, (something about heartworms being bad in our area), and if she has a reaction to her shots again (she did last time), call her for a pain pill. She's not acting as "pitiful" as last time, she's sitting up more, not sleeping as much, but she's still not eating, drinking or moving around much. If she's not better by Wednesday morning, I'll call and get a pain pill.

Think my day was bad? Vx's was worse and longer!

Vx was supposed to drive about 60 miles to work on something. Before leaving, he went to a supply place close to home. Good thing he did, his work vehicle overheated on the way there, so he has had to postpone that job, & he spent Monday working on his work vehicle. Since he wanted his cousin's help, he also helped his cousin out, which (in typical Vx style) turned into something WAY more complicated. Cousin's vehicle had a flat tire near the area Vx was gonna help him out at, then a blowout, since he hasn't been working in the heat as much as he normally does, Vx about blacked out several times. When they were going back to work on the vehicle, the aunt who was watching the cousin's kids started throwing up, so they got the kids, grabbed some dinner at Sonic, and went to work on the vehicle. Since he was supposed to start on another project closer to home Tuesday, he made an appearance there this morning, then drove out to yesterday's job afterwards. Since the other one is so far away, he's hoping to get it done in one day, if not, he's gonna sleep in his vehicle (not the first time he's done this), and finish it tomorrow.

Since this is supposed to be a random post, but turned into one of my normal bitchfests, now I'll make sure to post random things:

*Golden Oreo's are very yummy.
*Pest control came in this morning, so the kitchen stuff has been randomly placed in the living room, dining area, and mom's bedroom.
*My sleeping schedule has been random lately, I sleep a few hours during the day, and a few hours at night.
*I have a canker sore (is that what its called?) Its on the inside of my mouth, it hurts to brush my teeth, laugh, talk at times, and when objects touch it (drinks, food, lysine, etc.). My lip looks swollen and sometimes I seem to have trouble talking w/o feeling lots of pain. Usually lysine helps them go away (I get them quite a bit, usually citrus items cause them, but sometimes very salty chips and bad stomach aches can as well. I think eating too many potato chips the other night did it this time).
*My pajama bottoms have tinkerbell on them. I'm still wearing yesterday's shirt, it's gray w/music notes all over the front.

Wednesday, uh!

Wednesday morning, I was going to stay up to pick up my final paycheck from this June event (to avoid having to pay me overtime, they've been paying me 80 hours at a time, this check was for the final several hours) but was too tired, so I set an alarm to get up before the office closed, little did I know Vx was making other plans. His post-op was supposed to be Thursday morning, but since he was running a fever (that he wouldn't take Tylenol for) and having pain (he wouldn't take his pain meds for, he could've taken both together), he moved up the appointment to Wednesday afternoon. When I woke up to get ready to go, he informed me that he moved the appointment. So fuckin typical of him! I told him if he was in so much pain he had to move the appointment up, then he must have been taking his medicine, so I didn't allow him to drive (if he really was taking his medicine, he wouldn't let himself drive there), I dropped him off, he got mad at me,
"Your not coming in?"
"No, I have things to do."
"I didn't bring my cell phone, so I should be done in an hour or so, just wait inside for me."

So, I left him and drove in the opposite direction to get my check. At work, I did get a nice surprise, my final check was double! Not too shabby for the people who don't "believe" in pay raises anymore, or overtime.

Did I mention this was all during rush hour? Me, being the genius I am, I took this street that some major construction is occurring on and around it (the highway that runs over it preparing to be widen). I needed gas, so I turned on a street that I knew had my preferred gas station (Quik Trip), bought gas and a snack since I hadn't ate anything, and then turned on another street to head to the turnpike. Despite inserting the correct change, the coin machine didn't act like I inserted money in it (hopefully no one fines me for it) and made my way back to Vx.

As soon as I walked in the main door, he was sitting right inside it, in pain. He claims that the doctor played ping-pong w/his balls. He has an infection, but the doctor didn't know if it was from the surgery or if it was something he may have already had (like a cold or something), told him to take his pain meds, and informed him that this surgery wasn't as simple as Vx seemed to think it would be, even saying some patients having heart procedures recover more quickly than others do from hernia operations, let alone double hernia operations (like his). He wrote him 2 prescriptions, one for more pain meds, the other for antibiotics, and he has another follow-up next week.

Not to sound like Stan (f/South Park), but I learned something today, my car's a/c needs to be fixed! I guess my check(s) will go to that, &/or my state income tax refund (came in the mail the other day, not sure how much it'll cost or what exactly's wrong, it blows air but not as much as it should).

While our temp has only been in the 90's, the heat index according to my phone while at the restaurant was 115. Yeah, my car's going to the shop, sooner than later. This heat is especially hard on Vx, and his vehicles a/c's are in worse shape.

I believe this statement escaped my mouth as well: "I'm not the Army, I actually plan out things instead of trying to do everything last minute." I keep making this point to him, hoping that he'll also do the same, especially when it involves me. He has improved, but I don't know if it'll actually stick.

Am I a bitch?

Friday night, the blowup of the century! (Story time:)

In this corner, a wife who is tired of hearing excuses from her husband, and him saying, "I'll do that" and he hasn't.

In the other corner, a husband who's preparing for surgery, but won't get paid for his work, or try to do anything to help out beforehand.

Wife made plea for husband to finally clean up the deployment crap and all his other crap Friday night, Saturday around noon when she finally gets up after he's left, nothing has been done.

Text messages were sent with no responses, one stating, "Don't come home tonight." A phone call was made without answer, finally as wife was leaving one of husband's hangouts, she calls again, he's at another hangout. She tells him, "I lost my keys, I need to borrow your copies of the apartment and car keys. " She arrives, he handed over the whole key ring, kept trying to get wife to go somewhere so they could talk, she refuses and leaves.

She refused to answer the door when he came home, but he came in behind wife's mother. Wife gives other keys back, continuously made the point, "This is her apartment and she purchased my car!" while pointing towards her mother. Wife went to work w/mother and forced husband to leave at the same time. Husband stopped mother on her way to her vehicle, wife yells out car window, "Leave her alone!" several times.

He finally did.

Wife goes to work with mother, hangs out for several hours, tells mom's boyfriend some details about what happened (he also lives there) then comes home.

The End (of that part at least!)

Yep, I kicked my husband out!!!

Big part of me wants nothing to do with him anymore! But a very small part says I should let him back until he recovers from his surgery.

A very small part.

I worry if I do let him come back to recover, he'll try to change my mind, and being the weak person I can be, I would probably end up taking his sorry ass back. I don't want to give him that chance! He thinks I did all of this because I don't want to take care of him. The point he kept making towards me was how he stayed by my side when I was in the hospital, and how several people told him he should leave me, but he wouldn't and how his relationships w/them are strained. If they really were friends or whatever, they wouldn't have done that! Apparently BQ never visited (I knew she was having car issues, and lived about 40 miles away), but I remember Buddy, some cousins, my dad and MIL. And obviously Vx and my mom.

He told me one person today, I knew she wasn't too crazy about me, I just thought it was because Vx helped her daughter out so much, she was worried that me being around, he wouldn't. He continued to be there, he kicked her rapist's ass, and had to get the a & b dropped before he could go to basic, which was no problem at all. The rapist had also visited the same recruiters Vx used, when they found out Vx kicked that guy's ass, they literally worshiped the ground he walked on. This woman loaned us some stuff for the wedding, set things up, but left before the ceremony! I haven't seen her since. Vx has talked to her a few times, I think.

The point I was trying to make is that he has done NOTHING since. He doesn't seem to make any money, we still live with my mom, he doesn't try to keep his shit out of the way, he won't get rid of any of it (says he can't since it belongs to the Army and they won't let him return it), and he's brought up other personal issues I won't discuss in too great of detail, I'll just say that I'm making an effort to fix this and the quick fix is something he refuses to do.

Just in these last several minutes while trying to type all of this out, he has texted and called.

Oh, NOW he does!

Anyways, he asked for his sleeping bag, I said no, he has slept in his car numerous times, its hot outside, so why would he need a sub-thermal sleeping bag?

So, am I a bitch? Is it too much to ask that we live in our own less-crowded place, like a REAL married couple? Is it too much to ask that my husband gets a real job, instead of trying to build up a business that partially involves people wanting to build houses or remodel them? Is it too much to ask to see the money that he's making instead of what he's buying with it? Not to foolishly hurt himself in some way every time I turn around?

Comments please!

I suck, well not completely

So much for my "read a book every month" resolution, it's March 2nd, and I'm on Chapter 6 or 7 (not even sure where the book is). I did floss every week (a few days late once, but it got done). I had a perfect opportunity to catch up, even finish the book, one weekend I sat at a door at my job for 8-14 hours each day for 3 days, but I feared reading a book with Sex in the title would not be appropriate at a family event, so I didn't read it, or make the effort to hide the cover. Then there was the recovery time, when I wasn't sleeping that would've been a great opportunity, but I didn't.

That was the "I suck" part of the title, the "well not completely" part is a funny story from today:

As some of you may or may not know, I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled last Tuesday. I've been having more trouble with my jaw than anything, I can't open my mouth very wide without lots of pain. The surgeon told me I need to work on that, I told my husband this, he suggested something I could do to help out my mouth.

Yeah, I'll pass.

Sorry for a post filled with sex, I guess that's what I get for losing all my wisdom.

p.s. Eating tacos a week after is not a good idea. It took me over an hour to eat 3 soft tacos with only ground beef and cheese on them. The fork and knife didn't help much either.

Bad 24 hours

It started when I got to work Tuesday night, apparently emergency personnel have a crush on me or something. The police were on a manhunt around the ES/FMT area. In a nearby building, the cleaning crew was there, the supervisor (TW) came over to me and told me about it, where he was and to make sure I knew his phone number. It's like he's said several times before, w/so few of us around at night, we need to watch each other's backs. I'm glad he's watching mine, he's the sweetest man I know, and having a daughter my age probably comes into play as well. Once that was over, the rest of my shift was uneventful.

After I got off work, I took my car to my mechanic to check out the problems the dealership had found. The dealership wasn't bsing w/me, my brakes & tires were worn out, some brake pads were rubbing metal to metal, others were very close to the same, and the tires had no treads on them. So my federal tax return covered most of the bill, and my last two paychecks covered the rest. I won't get into the trouble I had covering the bill, my mechanic knows me and my mom real well, so that part is not a concern. Part of it is the bank is closing down the branch Vx and I use, and since Vx can't seem to find our marriage licenses, we more or less have separate accounts right now. His name's on the new ones and my maiden name is still on the old one. If anyone else reading this uses Bank of America Military Branch, it's closing, so you'll need to transfer to the regular bank, and I think there still doing some of the extra's as well. When I finally got home, I was really tired, and emotionally not in a good place (don't know how else to put it). I just hated everything!

While sleeping, I heard a knock and someone yell "Maintenance!" but since one neighbor's door is right above mine and the another's is next to the wall I sleep against, I just assumed it was for one of them. Then I heard my door being unlocked, a man walked in, said "hi kitty", made some noise, left, repeat everything again, and that was it. I texted mom and Vx to see if they knew anything, neither did, checked on the kitty, she seemed ok, didn't see anything obviously out of place or missing. Some pipes run behind mom's closet, so if there was a problem, they may have needed to get in there to do something.

I finally got to sleep again, but I either didn't hear my alarms go off or both of them didn't, so I woke up about the time I was supposed to be leaving for work, so I got up, got dressed, checked on kitty, and left. I stopped at a drive-thru on the way here for "breakfast" and I clocked in about 15 minutes late, but like I've said before, not a big deal at my post.

Vx called on my way to work, apparently I was supposed to come w/him for 3 days, tonight was an FRG meeting. He said everything they talked about was stuff he's already talked to me about, if I have any problems, I can speak to the FRG leader for warriors, and in terms of car trouble or if we live in a house and a pipe causes problems, call his aunt and she'll either send her husband on the wrecker or one of her son's to fix the pipes.

I swear my life's not always this exciting! I already have my six words for Saturday, can you guess what they are?

What excitement and tons of horse terminology

Exciting night! After Vx and I came home f/a restaurant, we were out in the parking lot putting our new tags on our vehicles (nothing special, the state just changed them). When we were working on his(it's tougher to change than mine), we saw a car chase through our apartment parking lot! The driver wasn't going terribly fast, but faster than you should in a parking lot w/dips and speed bumps. Everyone came out of their apt's, kids rode their bikes into the neighborhood behind us (where the suspect went), the police chopper flew over us several times, in the six years I've lived here, there's never been this much excitement EVER! If that wasn't enough, when I got to work, a nearby baseball field was shooting off fireworks! I went down to the apron and watched all the pretty colors.

For the non-horse racing people, wikipedia defines An apron of a racetrack is the part going around the track below the yellow line. In more simpler terms, it's this paved area where you can stand next to the track to see the races real close, the winner's circle is also located there. At FMT, there's also areas there where you can place bets, food and drink concessions (w/ or w/o alcohol), a few chairs, plants, and simulcast of those races and maybe a few others as well. FMT cordinates w/this baseball field so races aren't being ran while the fireworks are going off. For people who don't know this, most horses are easily spooked, especially horses that are pumped w/vitamins *coughdrugscough* which in turn can injure or kill the jockey riding them. Some have been trained so things don't bother them (Budweiser Clydesdales are a great example), many (like Bud's horses) also wear blinkers (also known as blinders or "winkers," used to restrict the horse's vision). Wow! I have learned more than I realised from ES and FMT, if only I knew more about the other events I've worked at (how to speak Spanish, guns, cars, home and garden, etc.). Ok, no more information overload, I need to finish some things up and go to bed, goodnight/day y'all!

Six Word Saturday

I got last summer's job back!

To go more into details, the co-worker who was doing my job about 5 nights a week decided to quit, so I will probably be doing this job every single night til the end of July. While I enjoy having the guarenteed hours, idk if I really want to deal w/the bs every single night. I shouldn't be making anymore trips during that time, and my headaches have gotten better, so hopefully I can handle it. If not, then I'm sure the other person can do what I did a few times last year, cover both posts, stay most of the time at the other one, then do my rounds about every hour like I'm supposed to. Some of my clothes are either on their last threads or need to be thrown out, so I see some of the money going towards a few new pairs of shoes, some new jeans, and Vx could use a few items as well. If my car needs work done on it, some will go towards that (new tires? new brakes? idk). Of course moving would be nice, but who knows when that'll happen.

Yesterday after typing my blog, I was still awake about 7:30am and I didn't feel very tired, so I decided to go ahead and stay up a little longer to pick up my prescription and get my tag. I left the apt. about 8am and I was back home w/both things by 9am! I had to drive 5 miles south for the prescription, then 2 miles west and 6 miles north for the tag (passed another tag office that wasn't open yet). I was amazed how quick that took, if I was getting a driver's license I would have had a long line to wait in, but the people that take care of tags and stuff were all available. Since Oklahoma decided to do a complete make-over of the tags, I had to get a new one, Vx still needs to put it on my car, he still doesn't have his on his vehicle and it expired in December. He said a cop pulled up behind him, so he stuck the new tag out the driver's window and the cop passed him and shook his head.

Memorial Day

I hope everyone's enjoying the holiday weekend, please don't forget the reason for the holiday, U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. Also remember the people who aren't fortunate to have this day off, military, security personnel, media, hospital workers, fire departments, ambulance crews, various police forces and many others. There are checkpoints set up in various places, so please don't drink and drive, especially this weekend. Remember the workers at the gas stations, grocery stores, and pharmacys so you may purchase last minute items, like gas to return home, that loaf of bread you forget for your sandwiches, or medicine incase you need medication. Any empty buildings you may drive by will probably have a security guard inside since criminals also don't take holidays off. If bad Wx makes an appearance, the media will be there to let you know if your in the path of a storm, and other important information you may need to know. If your involved in a car wreck, you will receive the proper attention needed. If you are injured severly, go into labor, or have a heart attack, there will be people at the hospital to help you out, and of course, as we are all aware of, terrorists don't take off on holidays either. Many of the above mentioned workers that are working today could very well be someone in the Reserves, Natinoal Guard, or a veteran. Whether you have the day off or not, I hope it is a good and safe day.

It's dark in here...

Tonight, I found out one of the new CEO's rules, he wants overnight security to work in the dark. Why, so we can't see break-ins? Loose horses? What really bothers me about this is the fact that he retired from the police department, he's the former security director, so of all people he should understand how important it is for us to have a little bit of light to see if someone is breaking into our buildings, vehicles, or if an animal gets loose so that we can return it to a stall. It explains the rise in vehicle break-ins. I've only been at this post one other time when it was this dark, and that was when the electricity went out for about a minute during a storm. I almost tripped on some uneven pavement earlier in one of the more lit areas, my leg didn't enjoy that. I'm not even trying to walk around like I probably should, I'm just sitting in my car hoping no one walks up to it w/a gun or something. I'm locked in my car w/a window down (so I can hear things going on and for air) but any person can walk into the area I'm at. Thanks, you fuckin (retired) pig!

more change

On another blog I read (maybe the same one I found the link for the signature), I also found out how to have signatures automatically on your posts (thanks to whoever replied on her blog how to post these). Is my lack of computer stuff scaring you away yet? Also, for anyone else who's wondering why I don't have an avatar on twitter, the few pictures I have on my computer that I want to use all need to be resized (all are too big). Someone did tell me how to do so (upload to photobucket or flickr), I just haven't actually messed around with that yet. The guitar picture and the ones of P that I've posted on here were taken with my cell phone. I want some different pictures to use for my blogger profile, twitter, and other sites, I just don't know what.

Thursday morning, I took my car back to the dealership to have the steering-something-or-another recall fixed (I have it in writing in my car). They also conveniently checked out some other things and informed me that 3 of my tires are showing the core, one brake is at 10% and the other is 15% so I'll visit my mechanic next week to get a second opinion on the issues. When I got home after dropping my car off, I went to bed, I woke up to 4 voicemails, 1 f/ES boss, 1 f/my mom in regards to the ES boss's message, and 2 f/the dealership. The dealership ones were about the above mentioned items, and the other 2 were about working Friday night. That convinced me to finally call the FMT boss, the guy that worked my nights off last season is doing it, but I'm going to work his nights off, sort of a role reversal. He wants Fri. and Sat. nights off, so I'll be working those nights til the end of July, and if ES needs me, I'm still available the rest of the time (incase you were wondering, my mom's going to work Friday night for ES).

Thursday night, Vx, osil's 2 son's and I went to see Terminator. I never saw the other movies, but I had been watching some of the episodes w/Vx, so I wasn't completely lost, its not too bad of a movie. It was the oldest's birthday (he's the one that graduated Tuesday night), so we took them out to dinner afterwards.

my car's what?

GM Recall:

"General Motors Corp. is recalling 1.5 million vehicles in the U.S. to fix a glitch in an engine component that may cause oil to leak and lead to a fire.

The move includes certain Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac cars from model years 1997 to 2003, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its Web site.

Oil could drop on the exhaust manifold, posing a risk of engine fire. The recall for Detroit-based GM will begin in May, the agency said.

The recall affects Buick Regals from model years 1997 to 2003; Chevrolet vehicles including 1998 and 1999 Luminas, 1998- to-2003 Monte Carlos and Impalas from model years 2000 to 2003; the 1998 and 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue; and some Pontiac Grand Prix cars from model years 1997 to 2003."

The car I wrecked about 18 months ago is on there, and my current vehicle may be recalled as well (a Grand Prix from model years 1997-2003). The recall didn't affect my car wreck, but my MIL was the one to inform me about it, so I'm posting it incase you're like me, just finding out your vehicle is or may be recalled. I got this car f/my mechanic, who drove it off the showroom floor, so I'll be speaking to him next week to find out more info about it. I never really liked the car, so if it is, maybe I can get a car I actually like. I can't complain, my mom did buy it for me.

I'll end with something off-topic here, there's a show on tv right now, it's American Gladiators but w/kids, and guess who's one of the hosts: Ryan Seacrest (American Idol host)! I recognize the voice now, but the hair! lmao!
