I suck, well not completely

So much for my "read a book every month" resolution, it's March 2nd, and I'm on Chapter 6 or 7 (not even sure where the book is). I did floss every week (a few days late once, but it got done). I had a perfect opportunity to catch up, even finish the book, one weekend I sat at a door at my job for 8-14 hours each day for 3 days, but I feared reading a book with Sex in the title would not be appropriate at a family event, so I didn't read it, or make the effort to hide the cover. Then there was the recovery time, when I wasn't sleeping that would've been a great opportunity, but I didn't.

That was the "I suck" part of the title, the "well not completely" part is a funny story from today:

As some of you may or may not know, I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled last Tuesday. I've been having more trouble with my jaw than anything, I can't open my mouth very wide without lots of pain. The surgeon told me I need to work on that, I told my husband this, he suggested something I could do to help out my mouth.

Yeah, I'll pass.

Sorry for a post filled with sex, I guess that's what I get for losing all my wisdom.

p.s. Eating tacos a week after is not a good idea. It took me over an hour to eat 3 soft tacos with only ground beef and cheese on them. The fork and knife didn't help much either.

Six Word Saturday

The weekend has returned, so it's time for another edition of Six Word Saturday! Last week, I was unable to participate mainly because of my work schedule (long hours, no internet access at work, my Blackberry doesn't like leaving comments on blogs, etc.) so this week's words:

My cat and I are drugged

She's been playing with her catnip, and I took a pain pill about an hour ago, so were both being loopy together. Tuesday I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled, the one on the left was impacted, so I've been having jaw pain on that side.

To participate in this fun game, visit Call Me Cate's blog by clicking on the picture above, please use Mr. Linky and leave her a comment, she'll even show your 6WS some love.

Enjoy your weekend!

February 14th

This day is much more than Valentine's Day. This year, it's also the Chinese New Year, it's my sister's birthday, and Monday is a holiday for some.

I will also mention that my birthday is coming up on Wednesday. If you know someone that has a birthday after Valentine's Day, for the love of god:

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM LEFTOVER VALENTINE'S STUFF!!!

If your going out to a chinese restaurant today or another place celebrating the new year, you may hear some very loud music, and drums. Do not bitch out the staff because of this! I almost whacked a woman with my cane a few years ago for this. Please tip the lion, some places may have red envelopes you can use for this purpose, if not just slip some money in the mouth. If the team is from far away, this will help them greatly with travel cost, if its a local group, then you'll probably help pay for dinner after a long day of dancing and demonstrations.

Enjoy your day!

Superbowl Clydesdales CA

Back in 2006, the Budweiser Clydesdales west coast hitch was at my job for a rodeo. They arrived the Monday before, the rodeo was Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, then they left Monday morning. At night, I was responsible for keeping an eye on those 12 huge boys and their donkey. If you remember a commercial from several years ago, a donkey was pulling the wagon, then after they went over the hill, you saw the 8 horses pushing the wagon. Last year, a horse name Thunder was on a commercial, one of the horses I watched was name Thunder, idk if it was the same one or not. Anyways, here's this year's commercial:

Resolution update

Book reading: As I type this, I'm on Chapter 6. I've been skipping days, but I've been reading 2 chapters on the days I don't skip, so it's not going as well as it could, but if I keep up with reading 2 when I do read it, I should stay on track. The book is somewhat like the tv show, but not quite. I've also watched the show in an edited version, some edits more obvious than others, so I'm sure that makes a difference. Still not sure what my next book will be, but I still have time to figure that out.

Dental care: I flossed my teeth on Friday. I haven't left the house in a few days since I've been feeling bad, so I don't think I've brushed my teeth in a few days. MUST WORK HARDER ON THAT PART! I do have an appointment scheduled to get the other 3 teeth pulled, so on the 23rd around 9 am Central Time, if your teeth hurt, then you'll know why, your having sympathy pain for me, so thanks! Luckily this time, sedation is an option.

Things could be better, but it could be worse as well. I'm pleased with what I have accomplished.

Six Word Saturday

#booyah! It's time for another Six Word Saturday, the object of this wonderful game is to describe something in six words. It's harder than you think! This week's words:

Greatest diet plan: sleep 18 hours

I haven't been feeling very well since Thursday morning, so I've been sleeping for about 18 hours straight, wake up, eat something, play around on the computer, watch a little tv, enjoy a small snack, then go back to sleep. At least I'm sleeping through the pain without drugging myself silly!

To play along, click on the lovely graphic towards the top of this post, show Cate some love by using Mr. Linky and leaving a comment for her to read between her family torture sessions.

Have a great weekend! I'll be sleeping.

New Years Resolutions (better late than never)

So I realize it's now February 1st, but I just came up with some resolutions that I think I can pull off this year.

Every month, I will read a book. I've never been a big book reader, so this will be something that will require some effort. I will start by reading this book:

When Vx and I were cleaning the living room, I found this book. There was a receipt inside from 2006, so I've had the book for that long (at least) and I've only read bits and pieces of it. There are other books laying around here that were purchased with good intentions, but were barely touched, so I will try to have at least 11 books read by New Years 2011. There's 27 chapters, and I'll probably forget once or twice, other times I may want to read a few chapters, so March 1st, this book should be read, and a new one will await my eyes. Maybe on the 28th, I'll write a review to finish off the month. My sister in Minnesota has already asked to borrow it, so I'll either mail her the book, or wait until she comes back for a visit and I'll pass the book along to her.

BTW, I read the intro and first chapter right before I typed this, so I'm already getting a good start.

Another resolution I'll be working on was suggested by the hygenist I had a teeth cleaning with on January 20th. Floss my teeth. I don't brush my teeth everyday (I don't leave home everyday, so it doesn't come to mind), let alone 2-3 times a day like your supposed to, I never flossed my teeth since it always seemed to get stuck between my teeth, and with the troubles I'm having now, this resolution is needed badly! It was suggested that I start out slow, so for February, I'll floss once a week, March it'll increase to every 6 days and so on. It was also suggested I use those floss stick things, my husband keeps those things stocked in the apartment, and if by some chance there isn't any around, there are several of those regular boxes of floss around here. Brushing my teeth more often will also be included with this one. If I'm lucky, no teeth pulled in 2011! (I still need to get those 3 yanked out soon)

So, I have goals. There's others that need to be made, but I hesitate to, so I'll work on those 2, hopefully the others will come along as well.

Wish me luck!

Six Word Saturday

I believe most everyone who would be reading this are trying to stay warm indoors (with electricity, obviously) so what better activity to do on a freezing ass cold day like today then Six Word Saturday? My (somewhat) creative mind tried to make this phrase only six words, this is what I came up with:

What's this stuff on the ground?

Yes, the white stuff has returned, and unlike the normal stuff that falls from the sky, it's not melting. Look snow, just because you stuck around during the Christmas holiday doesn't mean you need to stay around again, so melt, be gone!

To participate in this fun little game (that should keep you warm), visit Call Me Cate's wonderful blog by clicking on the picture that (I assume) her creative mind came up with, please use Mr. Linky and leave a comment. She shouldn't bite, and I'm sure she won't try to stab you with needles to give you a flu shot.

I'm listening to a radio station while typing this, they just did a PSA for flu shots, much better than yesterday's National Guard PSA. It was obviously made for Oklahoma, 2 guys are outside filming a tornado heading in their direction (AKA what you do when a Tornado Warning is issued, for a Tornado Watch, the camcorder goes on the charger) and they see the National Guard drive by, in the direction on the tornado. It gave me a chuckle.

Hope everyone stays safe, power stays on (or at least stay off for a short time) and try to have some fun!

Six Word Saturday

The object of this fun little game is to describe something in six words, here's my attempt:

RV's, motor homes, and boats

That's what I'm spending part of my weekend watching over. To play this fun game, visit Call Me Cate's blog by clicking the pretty little picture above, please use mister linky, and leave a comment, or Cate may run after you with scissors.

I realise I'm a little bit late on this entry, so I hope Sunday will be Funday for you!

What's this white stuff on the ground outside?

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I believe this was my first "White Christmas" here in Oklahoma at least. Thursday I had a wisdom tooth pulled, it was cracked, had a cavity and it wasn't even fully grown. My teeth have also been in this shoving match off and on for the last 2 or 3 weeks, so hopefully having one less tooth will help out until I get an appointment with an oral surgeon to remove an impacted wisdom tooth. As bad of an experience as that may sound like, that's the best dental experience I've had in a long time! It may have also helped that on this sheet I filled out before hand, on the "Do you have any concerns?" line I wrote bad experience and something about morphine withdrawals. They gave me some medicine that made me sick on Christmas day, so it wasn't the greatest holiday for me. I had 2 different plans for dinner, one was going out for chinese (which we did Saturday night) w/someone from warriors if he couldn't fly home (he made it), the other was a frozen pizza (its still in the freezer). My mom and her boyfriend didn't want to try to drive to his family's place, so they stayed home as well and made food for all 4 of us.

Vx news, he may become an instructor now. He attended a class on Chemical Warfare in Wisconsin (at least he was able to use all that cold Wx gear he's been issued for deployment), I guess he impressed the instructors on all his knowledge and stuff, so he may join their group. There's also the possibility that he may get to return to Fort Leonard Wood to teach some pre-deployment classes for a few months. It would be very awesome if that occurred, but nothing about this Army crap seems awesome, so no one's holding their breath on anything.

Part of the reason I haven't been blogging or even reading blogs that much lately is because of some of this crap. Several blogs I've read, the authors are talking about their husbands being gone, or they're about to leave AGAIN. As a wife of a soldier bending over backwards trying to get deployed so he can get combat pay, promotions, and that combat action badge he desperately wants before he becomes an instructor, drill sgt, or any of those other jobs people have offered him, this pisses me off to no end! HOW CAN YOU BE SO SURE THAT HE'S LEAVING??? We've spent the last 2 years under the impression that Vx is deploying in 3 months, and other than the 3 weeks he spent at the mob site, it still hasn't happened! Ladies, while your missing your man, be glad that the military thinks so highly of him that they want to keep sending him back time after time. Sorry if I'm offending anyone, but geez. Also, don't tell me it's a "Reserve thing" because if that was the case, why are National Guard units still being deployed? They're the ones that I believe are supposed to stay in the US protecting our borders, helping in natural disasters (like the OK ones that are digging cars out of snow-covered interstates, etc.) and ready to fight in our country while our regular military troops are overseas. Vx was in the National Guard before we met, he joined the Reserves so he could fight overseas, and he wouldn't have to move around all the time, so he can drive a tow truck when his uncle needs help, work in an oil field when his cousin needs help, work on other people's cars when they need repairs, paint walls, lay drywall, fix pipes, floors, do kung-fu at a specific school instead of having to find a new one every few years (lately he hasn't focused on it as much, but back then it was a big deal).

Ok, I'll quit offending people and losing the few followers I have now, maybe someday I'll actually come up with something real to post about instead of griping about something or another.
